Once August arrives, the answer to, “what’s for supper?”, is answered by another question–“what’s in the garden?”.
Here’s a sample from today’s haul–2 previously hidden cauliflowers, carrots, basil, parsley, cabbage (Early Jersey Wakefield–waxy and sweet–it is to most cabbages what a freshly dug new potato is to an old, storage russet), new potatoes(!), and the beginning of what looks like an awesome green bean crop!!
On the menu for the next day or so–a Nicoise salad, coleslaw with a mustard vinaigrette, and something really special with that cauliflower….
