Materials:
50 gms sportweight feltable wool, or wool blend (no superwash or bleached whites)
US size 11 16” circular needle, stitch marker, yarn needle, 3 buttons
To fit iPad (9.5 inches long x 7.25 inches wide)
Use yarn double throughout, and knit loosely.
CO 25 sts
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: K2, P21, K2
Repeat rows 2 and 3 two more times. This creates the flap.
Knit across the next row, then, using the backwards loop method, CO 25 more sts. Place a marker and then join in a circle with sts already on the needle.
Round 1: Knit
Round 2: K 25, P 25
Repeat rnds 1 and 2 one more time
Continue by knitting around until the length of the circular knit section (excluding the flap) is about 12.5 inches.
Using the three needle bind off method, bind off all sts. Fold the flap over the sleeve and sew the sides of the flap to the side seams. Weave in any loose ends.
Felt in the washing machine in a mesh bag with the machine set for hot and a small load. Agitate, and check every 5 minutes or so until the sleeve is the desired size. Press out water in a towel and lay on a mesh surface to dry, checking dimensions every now and then as it dries and reshaping as needed.
After the sleeve is completely dry, pick up about 25 sts along the lower edge of the flap. Work an applied icord along the edge, making 3 loops of 6 icord sts–after 2 attached icord sts, at the ½ way point and before the last 2 attached icord sts. Sew on 3 buttons.
